Without a doubt, the Belgium trumpeter, Jeroen Berwaerts, is one of the most interesting musicians of the young musical generation.
As an award-winner at several competitions, Jeroen Berwaerts’ extraordinary musicality and virtuosity became apparent at an early age especially during his studies with Prof. Reinhold Friedrich. Following success at the „Jong Tenuto“ (Brussels, 1988), the „Jeunes Solistes“ (Brussels, 1989), the „Concours
Maurice André“ (Albert/France, 1991) and the „Concours Européens du Jeune Trompettiste“ (Nancy/France, 1992), Jeroen was also an award-winner at the international competition „Prager Frühling“ and won the 2nd prize as well as the “Prix Feeling” (special award for interpretation) in the finale of the International “Concours Maurice André de la ville de Paris”.
His musical “open mindedness” is reflected in his repertoire which touches upon every epoch, particularly contemporary music and jazz. This flexibility combined with his outstanding technical and musical capability on the trumpet always make him a special attraction at international festivals such as the Kissinger Sommer, the Rheingau Musikfestival, the Festival Aix-en-Provence, the chamber music festival "Spannungen" in Heimbach, the Elba International Music Festival. In 2002, Jeroen made his debut as soloist at the world renowned Schleswig Holstein Music Festival and in 2005 premiered the piece Voyage VII for trumpet and ensemble by the composer Toshio Hosokawa at this festival.
As a soloist, Jeroen Berwaerts has performed concerts with the „Orchestre Philharmonique de la Radio Télévision Belge“, „I Fiamminghi“, “ Les Solistes de Versailles “, “ Sinfonia Baltica “, the “ Flemish Radio and Television Orchestra”, the “Munich Symphony Orchestra”, the” Capella Istropolitana”, the “Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra”, the “Berlin Symphony Orchestra” and the” Norddeutschen
