Simone Beneventi is a percussionist dedicated to the study and dissemination of New Music. He works together with several of the greatest living composers such as Battistelli, Billone, Casale and Dufourt.

Simone Beneventi works together with several of the greatest living composers such Battistelli,

Verrando and with soloists and multimedia artists such Yuval Avital, Mario Caroli, IanniX, John

He played as ensemble player with Algoritmo, Barcelona 216, Contempoartensemble, Diagonal,
Icarus, L'arsenale, Klangforum Wien, mdi ensemble, Neuvocalsolisten, Prometeo and Repertorio
zero giving concert in festivals such Acht brücken musik für Köln, Ars Musica in Bruxelles, Autumn
Warsaw, Biennale in Zagreb, Harvard University, Luzerne Festival, MiTo, Nuova Consonanza,
Parco della Musica di Roma, Salzburg Festispiele, Teatro Colon de Buenos Aires, Tohnalle in
Zurich, Traiettorie in Parma, Wien Modern.
He plays with the orchestras of the most important italian theaters such as la Scala di Milano,
Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Orchestra Mozart, Comunale di Bologna, Lirico di Cagliari, Massimo
di Palermo, la Fenice di Venezia, Opera di Roma, Filarmonica Toscanini, Orchestra Regionale
Toscana and Spiramirabilis.
Alongside the career of performer he follows both activities as a researcher, realizing edition for
percussion music (in 2012 Casa Ricordi published his reconstruction of the unedited composition
Golfi d’ombra by Fausto Romitelli), as a lecturer giving conferences (Hochschule für Musik in
Basel, Ferienkurse für Neue Musik in Darmstadt, University of Strasbourg) and masterclass.
He has recorded for Aeon, Neos, Raitrade, Stradivarius and his other performances were
broadcasted by Rai-Radio3, Croatian Radio, Austrian Radio.
In 2011 he was awarded with Repertorio zero at the Biennale di Venezia with the “Silver Lion”.
In 2010 Skyclassica-television has made a documentary about him for the format “I Notevoli”.
Since 2009 he is artistic director of the Festival Percussione Temporanea in Reggio Emilia.
He studied percussion with Francesco Repola, Jonathan Faralli, Eric Sammut (Conservatoire
Nationale de Paris-CNR), Pedro Estevan (Esmuc in Barcelona), Christian Dierstein and Marcus
Weiss (Hochschule für Musik in Basel), and Musicology at the faculty of licterature and philosophy
